In a new video clip, the artists of the shadow theatre troupe “Die Mobilés” spark viewers’ curiosity about Cologne’s meeting market. The performance of acrobatic choreography that was captured on video was a special highlight at the most recent networking meeting of the Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB) at Motorworld Cologne. The clip, which is now available online, is just one of the numerous activities that are celebrating the tenth anniversary of the CCB.

The award-winning Cologne-based Mobilé ensemble, which is well known for its “Moving Shadows” show, uses dance and narration in the clip to present Cologne’s event market, which is an important element of the city’s economy. The aim is to present this complex sector in a vivid way that reveals its many different facets. Although the meeting market as a whole is a matter of facts and figures, its focus is on people and their personal interactions. The dancers from Mobilé create a binding element, because they tell stories through the medium of their bodies and thus ideally convey the sector’s focus on people.

The importance of Cologne’s convention sector is due to factors such as its 174 event locations, the city’s central location in Europe, the strong network of science and business in the region and Cologne’s broad range of cultural offerings. The aim of the clip’s creators is to boost the city’s popularity among event organizers and fans of Cologne.

In parallel to the release of the clip, VisitKoeln is launching a lottery in which two participants can win invitations to an event at the km 689 Cologne Beach Club celebrating the “Kölner Lichter” fireworks show on July 21, 2018.
