Confex® construction at Koelnmesse to start

With the vision of Koelnmesse 3.0 Cologne will become the most sustainably attractive inner-city trade fair venue in the near future. A core element of this major project is Confex®. This combined trade fair, congress and event location will for the first time facilitate congress capacities of about 5,500 people. With the construction of Confex®, Koelnmesse will thus close a gap in the regional offer of congress locations and, above all, make hybrid events possible.

Construction of the new venue is scheduled to begin in spring 2021 with the building of the bored pile foundations. Meanwhile, the dismantling of the old Hall 1, which has been in operation since 1988, is in full swing and should be completed by the end of May 2021. Koelnmesse 3.0 will further enhance the reputation of the city of Cologne as a congress location. Already now, the cathedral city is the number one trade fair venue for 25 sectors of the economy.
