Convention statistics

How is Cologne’s MICE-sector developing and what are the recent trends? Relevant and accurate data is most important to do things right in destination marketing and allows a comparative perspective across destinations in the international competition. The Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB) provides up-to-date statistics and key numbers on the sector. Since 2009, it cooperates with its partners and the Europäisches Institut für TagungsWirtschaft GmbH (European Institute for Convention Business) to survey the TagungsBarometer Cologne.

Facts and Figures on the economic relevance of the MICE-sector in the City of Cologne can be retrieved from the study “Economic effects of meetings and conventions in Cologne”, carried out as a dissertation project by Ralf Kunze at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. On behalf of CCB, he developed a method based on the world wide tourism and meeting research and adjusted it to the German market. The most important findings of the study can be viewed below.
