12/10/2021

Stefan Löcher has been honored for special services regarding incoming tourism in Cologne in 2021. The LANXESS arena CEO received the honorary award on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Skål Club Cologne.

Skål International, an organization for linking, promoting and exchanging the tourism industry, is organised on a local, national, regional and international level in more than 319 Skål Clubs in 102 countries. The Skål Club Cologne presented Stefan Löcher with the Skål Honorary Award, thereby underlining the importance of the LANXESS arena for tourism in Cologne and the region.

Around 20 percent of arena guests stay at least one night in a Cologne hotel in connection with a visit to the event. Half of them even stay two to three nights. In a normal year, that's around 450,000 overnight hotel stays. Retailers and public transport also benefit. Germany's best-visited multifunctional arena generates sales of almost 600 million euros in Cologne and the region, making it an enormous economic factor. "People come for the events and like to stay a little longer because of the great and inviting city. The recognition of the Skål Club Cologne for our work is a great award that makes us very proud," Löcher comments on the honorary award.
