On 16 and 17 June, Motorworld Köln – Rheinland opened its garage doors to the public, offering everything event organisers and automobile enthusiasts can think of.
The new multi-functional event location and theme park for car enthusiasts
Henriette Reker, Lord Mayor of the city of Cologne, speaking at the press conference, underscored the significance of the new Motorworld Köln – Rheinland in two respects: “Motorworld simply had to find its way to Cologne because we are, after all, an automobile city. This new world of motoring experiences, with the private collection of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, will not only attract petrolheads to our city. As an exceptional and multi-functional event venue, it will also be a true enrichment for the congress venue Cologne that will make possible the organisation of completely new event formats.”
Space for events with the most recent entertainment equipment and premium catering
Motorworld Köln – Rheinland also offers a broad range of opportunities for events small and large for between two and 4,000 people. Business incentives, congresses, trade fairs, conferences and seminars, as well as concerts or even film shootings, will also find a suitable locality here. The historic “Four-stroke hangar” is the jewel of the event venues at Motorworld Köln – Rheinland. Up to 4,000 people can be accommodated in the former aircraft hangar.
From the autumn, visitors wishing to spend more time at Motorworld Köln – Rheinland can stay overnight in one of the theme and design rooms at the V8 Hotel Köln @Motorworld. Perfectly in keeping with a weekend trip dedicated to the most beautiful hobby in the world, guests can even park their collector’s car right next to their room in one of the car lofts. The themed rooms interpret mobile passion in an especially charming manner, allowing guests to experience mobility overnight as well.
A range of exclusive service providers for catering and tech equipment are ready to work out individual arrangements, meeting the demands of event organisers:
- Lemonpie Event- und Messecatering and DEINspeisesalon already offer suitable refreshments during events and conferences.
- For all issues related to event services and equipment: Kuchem Konferenz Technik is the exclusive full-service provider for congress, conference and events with spectacular light and first class sound tech equipment, realising every kind of format for clients.
This is how the culinary delights and the most recent equipment set the stages of the historic grounds tailored for every event.
The new crowd-puller full of mobile passion
Plenty of space for mobile passion is being created on an area covering more than 50,000 square metres. Historical and modern treasures of mobility will breathe life back into the former airport. Owners of vintage and classic cars, classics-to-be, through to luxury cars and motorbikes, will have the possibility of storing their vehicles in fitting surroundings in glass boxes. Dealers in exclusive automobiles, specialised workshops, as well as shops for supplies and accessories, also await visitors.
The family-run corporate group, based in Schemmerhofen (Baden-Württemberg), has already demonstrated with its pilot project that the concept is a recipe for success: Motorworld Region Stuttgart, located on the site of the former Württemberg state airport in Böblingen/Sindelfingen, opened in 2009 and since then has been expanded several times. It is the largest maker-neutral classic car and sports car centre world-wide, and meanwhile attracts over 600,000 visitors every year. “I am convinced that Motorworld Köln – Rheinland will be a crowd-puller as well,” Andreas Dünkel, CEO of the Motorworld Group, is pleased to say.
Special highlight: The Michael Schumacher Private Collection
Significant portions of the legendary, seven-time Formula 1 World Champion’s personal collection will be on show here, on a display area of over 1,000 square metres. Sabine Kehm, manager of the Schumacher family, explained the choice of location at the press conference: “The Michael Schumacher Private Collection is a huge thank-you from the Schumacher family to the many fans of Michael and motor sport. It displays significant pieces from his personal collection. The fact that this exhibition has found a home at Motorworld Köln – Rheinland is perfect for us: on the one hand, it is situated just a few kilometres away from Michael’s home town of Kerpen, while on the other hand, everything here emanates a love for automobiles.”
