On April 11, the construction work for the planned consulting centre started. Just a few weeks ago, Cologne's Mayor Reker signed the cooperation agreement for "Treffpunkt Solar" (translates to "Solar Meeting Point") with the Chief Executive of the Cologne Chamber of Crafts, Garrelt Duin, and the Chief Sales Officer of RheinEnergie AG, Achim Südmeier.

The aim of the meeting point is to offer Cologne residents, associations, companies and homeowners free and independent advice on the topics of photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, heat pumps and electro mobility. The experts are also available to answer questions about funding opportunities or electricity marketing.

Treffpunkt Solar is a key component of Cologne' Climate Change Initiative

With Treffpunkt Solar (only in German), RheinEnergie is implementing a key component of the key points paper agreed between the company and the Citizens' Initiative for Climate Change Cologne on the decarbonisation of energy generation in Cologne. The consulting centre will also be docked at RheinEnergie's corporate headquarters. The centrepiece of the site is a sustainably built Tiny House, where visitors will be able to experience first-hand how living with solar energy can work. Solar modules and other exhibits will also be on display.

In Cologne, sustainability efforts are fostered by the city, companies and the population equally.
